Welcome! The FAU FabLab is a workshop that is open for everyone, especially also for people from outside FAU. You can come and learn to use machines like laser cutters, 3D printers, vinyl cutters etc. to create your own do-it-yourself projects. We also have basic tools and compressed air so that you can, for example, repair your bike.

Just drop by during the OpenLab hours listed in the calendar below.

The FabLab is run by volunteers like you and me. We do not offer paid jobs or internships but are always open to new volunteers.

How to find us

The FabLab is located on the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Our visiting address (not for mail) is:

FAU FabLab
Room U1.239-119
Erwin-Rommel-Straße 60
91058 Erlangen

Room: You will find us in room U1.239-119 on the ground floor of the lecture hall building (MHB building). Please use the entrance marked on the campus map below. If the door is closed, please knock on the window two windows further to the right. If you know the campus: the room is in the same corridor as the lower exit of lecture halls H8/H9, roughly opposite the back entrance of the new mathematics building.

By bike: The nicest way to get here – and you can get air and oil for your bike right at our place. Please do not park directly in front of the entrance; there are bike parking areas nearby.

By car: Set your navigation system to „Cauerstraße 11, Erlangen“ and look for a parking space there. Then walk the rest of the way. Map on OpenStreetMap

By bus: The easiest way is the VGN journey planner (destination already filled in).

The nearest stop is „Technische Fakultät“. The stops „Sebaldussiedlung“ and „Erlangen-Süd“ are a 5–10 minute walk away. From Erlangen-Süd there are connections to Nuremberg (line 30) and Tennenlohe.
